Supporting ACMG: Fundraising, Guidelines & More
From 2019 - 2021, WCA formalized a corporate partner program, significantly increased donations, and helped the ACMG Foundation establish a formal Evidence Based Guidelines Program for Genetic and Genomic Medicine. Working closely with two partner Boards, senior staff, and a range of external partners, Karl launched the EBG initiative and raised more than $1 million to fund the new program. His work enabled ACMG to hire a team of staff and, on July 1, 2021, publish the EBG Program's first Guideline.
Karl has also helped the ACMG Foundation develop or fund a CME course on diversity, graduate Fellowship and Residency Programs, and more.

A Passion for Public Health
Ten Years Partnering to Fight Disease
Karl spent a decade leading corporate and nonprofit groups in a coalition style effort to better fund the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He fought for more funding to battle pandemics, lobbied to reduce the prevalence of preventable diseases and injuries, and educated policy makers about the domestic and international work of this crucial and often underappreciated federal agency.
A Global View
Meeting with Qatar's Ministry of Public Health
Karl's work as a consultant and then as the first VP of a private sector public health software company gives him a unique perspective that helps guide his work with nonprofit clients. Working outside the government and nonprofit sectors for those four years gave him tremendous insights that still aid his work today.
